The Story Behind the Bass

On Jan 21st 2009, I had a house fire that destroyed my home in Memphis. No-one was hurt, but almost all of my musical gear was destroyed or smoke ladened beyond recognition.

I entered this contest, and soon got so overwhelmed with the insurance dooings,that I just forgot about it until I saw the E-mail saying I had won something...

I ALMOST deleted it as spam until I saw it was from The Bass Place.

When I called you I said, " Y'know, I got this wacky E-mail saying I was the 2010 Bass Place / Spector giveaway winner." A voice asked "are you Mark Wilkins from Memphis, Tennessee and is your E-mail ****?" I said "YES !!!" The voice on the other end continued "Then you ARE the winner of the Spector Bass !!!!!!"

I found it quite odd after my fire, that I had won a Spector Bass with a smoke c-thru finish !!!!!!!

Someone in a higher power is sending me the message that I should really get serious with my jam / riff rehearsals!

I am a FOH audio specialist, and when it comes to down time I jam to Frank Zappa, and old Spike Jones recordings trying to make Merange' riffs fit in the cracks!

This Bass is so beautiful, and sounds incredible..I recommend The Bass Place as a great resource for any serious musician.
