Description

*This bass weighs  9.3 lbs with the covers taken off

Finished in a striking Baltic Blue over an ash body, this ’59 P-Bass Special is all about authority—big, focused low end, a chunky neck, and unmistakable presence. It’s been sorted by the Custom Shop and is a bit heftier than others we’ve seen, but the payoff is immediate: rock-solid construction and muscular, no-nonsense tone. Think Steve Harris–style punch and clarity, with lows that stay tight and controlled no matter how hard you dig in.

This build features a factory P/J pickup configuration, a chunky ’59-profile neck with a 9.5″ radius, 1.75″ nut width, incredibly resonant and alive in the hands.

It’s a versatile setup that still feels unmistakably “P-Bass first.”

The neck is the standout—big, bold, and sustaining. With 6105 frets, a tinted NOS finish, and a comfortable oval “C” shape, it has that old-school feel that instantly inspires confidence. Meaty paws welcome—dig in and this bass pays you back in spades.

Finished with chrome/nickel hardware, black dot inlays, vintage decal, and factory 45–105 strings. Built specifically for us here at The Bass Place.

A rare, player-first Custom Shop build with serious low-end authority and monster tone.
