Fender Custom Shop ’59 P-Bass Special – NOS, Emerald Green Transparent
We’ve never seen another Fender Custom Shop build quite like this one. An ash-body ’59 P-Bass Special with a factory P/J pickup configuration, chunky 9.5″-radius ’59 neck, 1.75” nut width and a one-ply black pickguard—this thing is a unicorn.
The ash body (sorted for optimal weight) and medium-tint NOS finish make it incredibly resonant, lively, and responsive. Acoustically, it rings like a bell; plugged in, the HW ’62 P-Bass pickup and Vintage J-Bass bridge pickup deliver massive low-end with clear top-end definition. This is one of those basses that “sings” even before it hits the amp.
The neck is the star—big, bold, and full of sustain. The 6105 frets, tinted NOS finish, and oval “C” shape give it that perfect old-school feel. It’s the kind of neck you bond with immediately.
Finished with chrome/nickel hardware, black dots, vintage decal, and factory 45–105 strings. Built specifically for us here at the Bass Place, and one of the most unique Custom Shop P-Bass specials we’ve come across.
