EMG’s new E-Series Pickups feature the commonly used slim soapbar cap design. Unlike any other EMG design, the E-Series feature wide aperture coils with ceramic magnets, delivering powerful low end while retaining the articulation modern bass player requires. The E Series pickups unlock a multitude of bass models for simple, drop-in EMG upgrades.
Designed with versatility in mind, the E-Series can excel in a wide range of genres and playing styles. Just like all EMG active pickups, the E Series are free from hum and buzz, and include solderless wiring kits for simple, DIY installation.
For further tonal shaping, the E Series pickups are compatible with EMG’s wide range of bass EQ’s and accessories, so the tonal possibilities are virtually endless.

Geoff Gould has been instrumental in the development of the bass guitar. As a co-founder and president of Modulus, he developed graphite necks and pioneered the 35-inch scale length for production basses. Nowadays, he builds basses under the G. Gould brand, where his creative designs know no bounds.
This week, we’re checking out the GGi5-Studio^3, a bass that utilizes progressive technology with organic looks.
The five-string bass utilizes a graphite composite neck with dot inlays to mark its 24 frets. Another interesting aspect is its pickups. Gould fit the GGi5-Studio^3 with three of EMG’s new E5W pickups as well as an EMG 3-channel mixer.
